LA BESTIA
2017

La Bestia is a photographic documentation of a walk along Mexican train tracks looking for traces of refugees traveling on the notorious freight trains that run from southern Arriaga up north to the US-American border. Many of them come from Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. They flee from poverty, a lack of opportunities and employment, from organized crime imposed by gangs and from corruption at the official level in their home countries.
On this ride they face crime and high risks of getting injured, raped, kidnapped or murdered. Along the train tracks many objects can be found as traces of those people.
The photographs were collected in a book and a fanfold.
