Lena Holzer is an Austrian designer and visual artist, currently based between the Netherlands and Austria. Her personal work reflects on the dynamics of the inherent relations between society and the individual. Taking her own experiences as a starting point, she explores the effects of social relations on the self and the individual’s influence on society as a synergy. Through the medium of photography and writing, she aims to find the extraordinary within the ordinary and question the criteria of what is considered valuable in society today.
All her works, be they visual, textual, auditive or three-dimensional, share a tendency towards sensuality, simplicity and sincerity that she believes in as a person and that defines her take on the world.
She holds a bachelor degree in Product Design and Graphic Design in Italy from the Free University of Bolzano and a master degree from the MA Photography & Society at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague.
